The festival of light Deepavali is celebrated in a distinct way in Karnataka. Lord Vishnu is worshipped on this day for his victory over Bali Chakravarthy. It is also the occasion when Lord Shri Krishna vanquishes demon King Narakasura.<br />”<br />”AIR Correspondent reports, in North India Deepavali is celebrated because on this day Lord Rama had returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. In South India, it is celebrated as Naraka Chaturdashi and Bali Padyami.<br />”<br />”The festival begins with water filling ritual when the water tank is cleaned and filled with water and offered puja. Next day oil bath is taken and Naraka Chaturdashi is celebrated. It is believed that Lord Shri Krishna vanquished demon king Narakasura on this day. On the day of Amavasya Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped.<br />”<br />”On the third day Bali Padyami is celebrated. It is believed that on this day the most powerful and charitable Asura King Bali returns to visit his kingdom.<br />”<br />”<span style="color: #222222;">The story goes that Lord Vishnu had assumed Vamana Avatara and had stamped Bali Chakravarthy into the ground.
