Commonwealth Games Federation Chief Michael Fennel has said extensive work has been done in the village to improve its condition. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, he, however, said some more work needed to be carried out.The Chairman of the Organising Committee Suresh Kalmadi who was present in the press conference conceded that the delay was due to the fault of the Organising Committee. Fennel said it was the responsibility of the Organising Committee to finish the preparations on time and they are responsible for the delay. The Federation, he said, had been raising issues regarding the smooth conduction of the Games from time to time.Fennel said the Commonwealth Games Federation was monitoring the situation carefully and he would be visiting the Games village again. He described the international zone of the Games village excellent and praised the quality of food.In response to a question, Fennel said that the recent intervention by the Government had helped to expedite the cleanliness process in the village and the drive was to be completed today. He also said the fire safety report of the concerned agency would be available today and the Federation would also take a look at the security arrangements.
