Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President, Capt. Amrinder Singh has alleged that the state government is favouring setting up of a memorial in the memory of Blue Star and felicitating Balwant Singh Rajona with the title ‘Living Martyr’. Rajona has been convicted in the assassination of former Chief Minister, Late Beant Singh. Captain Amrinder Singh said this act is highly irresponsible and will lead to disturbing the hard earned peace in Punjab. He said Congress will raise this issue in the upcoming session of Vidhan Sabha. Speaking to media at Jalandhar, today, Capt. Singh categorically said that this undesirable act of raising a memorial and honouring Rajoana has a tacit approval of Shiromani Akali Dal. He said, its alliance partner BJP is just sitting mum over the issue. However, Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Badal, who was also in Jalandhar termed Captain’s remark as politically motivated and said that people of Punjab are peace loving and government would also not allow anyone to disturb the harmony
