Human Resources Development Ministry has received suggestions from states to reverse the no-detention policy in schools as it is adversely affecting learning. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi after meeting of Central Advisory Board of Education, CABE, Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani said, her Ministry has sought feedback on the issue from all states in writing within 15 days. She said the Ministry will decide the future course of action on the basis of reports from states.<br/><br/>The Minister said it has been decided to constitute three Sub Committees of the CABE, on mainstreaming out-of-school children, improving infrastructure in government schools and enhancing skilling and technical education. The committees have been asked to submit their report and recommendations within a year.<br/><br/>Ms Irani said, the first draft of New Education Policy will be ready by December.<br/><br/>Members of the CABE also considered ways to encourage school and college children to participate in National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme. The Board also took up consideration of the issue of lightening bags of school children.<br/><br/>Education Ministers of 19 states, representatives of 29 states and union territories were present in the meeting.
