Federer crashes out of US Open Tennis tournament

Former World Number One Roger Federer of Switzerland has crashed out of the US Open Tennis tournament, the fourth and final Grand Slam of the season, at New York. In the Men's Singles pre-quarterfinals played this morning, world number 7 Federer was stunned by Spain's 19th seed Tommy Robredo, 6-7, 3-6, 4-6.Meanwhile, in the Men's Doubles, India's Divij Sharan and his partner from Chinese Taipei, Yen-Hsun Lu have bowed out of the tournament. In the pre-quarterfinal fixture last night, Sharan and Lu lost to the fifth seeded Pak-Dutch combination of Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Jean-Julien Rojer, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6. Qureshi and Rojer will now meet the fourth seeded Indo-Czech duo of Leander Paes and Radek Stepanek in the quarterfinals later today.
