Roger Federer has crashed out of the French Open tennis tournament. In the quarter-finals of the Men's Singles at Roland Garros in Paris yesterday, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France beat the 17-time Grand Slam title winner in straight sets 7-5, 6-3, 6-3. For sixth-seed Tsonga, it is his first semi-final in Paris. Tsonga is also the first home player since Gael Monfils in 2008 to make the grade. 28-year-old Tsonga will tackle Spanish fourth seed David Ferrer for a place in Sunday's final. Ferrer reached the semi-finals for the second successive year with a 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 win over compatriot Tommy Robredo.In the Women's Singles, World number one Serena Williams and fifth seeded Sara Errani of Italy have entered the semi-finals. While, American Williams overcame unseeded Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, Errani defeated Polish fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska in straight sets 6-4, 7-6.The Indian challenge at the French Open Tennis ended yesterday with the exit of Sania Mirza and Leander Paes in the doubles events with their respective partners at the pre-quarterfinal stage.Sania and her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands were forced to retire from their women's doubles following a groin problem to the American in the second set. The duo of Sania and Bethanie were playing against 11th seeds Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Lucie Safarova.Later in the Mixed Doubles, the Indo-Serbian duo of Paes and Jelena Jankovic lost to the eighth seeded team of American Liezel Huber and Brazilian Marcelo Melo 5-7, 7-6, 2-10.
