Federer begins his campaign for Grand Slam title

Top seed and defending champion Roger Federer began his campaign for a 17th Grand Slam title with a comfortable 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 win over Australia's Peter Luczak in the French Open first round on today. Federer now will face Colombia's Alejandro Falla for a place in the last 32.In womens single's, Spain's Feliciano Lopez lost to German qualifier Julian Reister in straight sets. While Caroline Wozniacki shrugged off ankle injury concerns to sweep into the women's second round.Jelena Dokic slumped to a dispiriting first-round exit. The 27-year-old Dokic went down to a 6-2, 6-2 defeat against Czech 24th seed Lucie Safarova. Chinese number one Li Na, the 11th seed, who defeated last year's junior champion Kristina Mladenovic of France 7-5, 6-3, wile Russian fifth seed Elena Dementieva beat Petra Martic of Croatia 6-1, 6-1.
