Federal Court in Australia reserves decision in Haneef appeal

A Federal Court in Australia today reserved its decision in an appeal against an order to release Government documents in the case of Indian born doctor Mohamed Haneef. Justice John Dowsett reserved his decision to a date to be fixed. Dr Haneef was arrested after the failed terrorist attacks in London and Glasgow in 2007. He was charged with a terrorism-related offence and his Australian visa was cancelled. However the case against him collapsed. Haneef's lawyers have been seeking documents under Freedom of Information laws to learn why their client was charged.
