Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture Dr. Mahesh Sharma has said feasibility project report for Chennai to Kannya Kumari ferry service is complete. Speaking to media persons in Kannya Kumari, Mr Shrma said 170 crore rupees has been allotted for tourism in Kannya Kumari. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the ship ferry service from Chennai to Kannya Kumari in Tamil Nadu was mooted way back in 2011. The feasibility report is ready now and if implemented it is going to attract tourists who like sea travel. To attract more persons Hindu pilgrim centre of Rameswaram and Christian holy place Velankanni have been added as stopovers. <br/><br/>Union Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said that Rs 70 crore will be allotted every year for boosting tourism in coastal centres. The minister said that Centre is ready to construct a bridge connecting Vivekananda Rock and Tiruvalluvar Statue. This will be really useful to tourists visiting Kannya Kumari who are using ferry services now, which get delayed because of tides and rough sea.
