The government today said that the FDI in the Multi Brand Retail Trading will generate millions of jobs and 50 per cent of them will be reserved for rural people. Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, the Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said the government is committed to bring such a FDI policy, that is friendly to farmers, consumers and small traders. He said the interests of Farmers as well as consumers and small traders will be protected at all costs. Mr. Anand Sharma said that government has received suggestions from different stakehoders including Business Bodies – FICCI and CII, various retailers' associations, consumers and farmers association on the issue and all the suggestions will be taken board before taking a final decision.
