FCI to double quantity of wheat for sale in Open Market from Thursday

Food Corporation of India, FCI, has decided to double the quantity of wheat for the sale in Open Market from Thursday. Food and Consumers Affairs Ministry in a release said, FCI has released 29 thousand tonnes of wheat in Delhi and its neighborhood areas in the first week of this month through its Open Market Sale Scheme. It said, the corporation is now increasing wheat offer to 45,500 tonnes from 24th of this month. <br/><br/><br/>The wholesale and retail prices of wheat, which had shown an increase in Delhi recently, have started coming down. Today, the wholesale price of wheat is 22 rupees 75 paise per kilogram and in retail, it is available at 24 rupees per kilogram. The Ministry said, flow of imported wheat from the ports, due to the reduced import duty is expected to meet the needs of the market and the private sector as transportation picks up.
