Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas will finalise a new government consisting of members of both groups during the meetings of their leaders in Cairo next week. Fatah leader Azzam al-Ahmad has said that Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas and Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal will finalise the formation of the new government. Both Fatah and Hamas said they are optimistic about an agreement on government formation. The move follows a reconciliation agreement signed in Cairo in May aimed at ending years of dispute between both groups, which paves the way for presidential and parliamentary elections within a year.
