In Kashmir, the main function of Republic Day was held at Srinagar's SK Cricket Stadium where Advisor to the Lt Governor, Farooq Khan, unfurled the tricolour and took the salute of the parade. <br />'' <br />'' Various administrative heads also unfurled the national flag and took salute of March passes in their respective districts. Contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, IRP, BSF, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC cadets, school children and others took part in the march pass at SK Stadium and other venues.  <br />'' <br />'' In his R-Day speech, Mr Khan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, are focussed on the development of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the Central and the J&K governments are determined to improve the road and rail connectivity here besides improving the overall education system. <br />'' <br />'' He praised the role of Jammu and Kashmir police and other security agencies for their role in marinating peace across the Union Territory especially Kashmir. He also expressed satisfaction over the role of administration in providing services to the people during this harsh winter. Mr Khan sought support from all stakeholders for bringing ever-lasting peace in the Union territory.  <br />'' <br />'' A multi-tier security setup was put in place in and around all the venues hosting the R-Day functions.<br />'' <br />'' As a precautionary measure, mobile phone service was suspended temporarily.  <br />''
