In Punjab, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today inaugurated a Bio Mass Power Plant of 14.5 MW at village Channu of Muktsar Sahib district. This is 3rd such power plant in the state and and it will be an agro based plant in which agricultural residue will be used as fuel.<br/><br/>Bricks will be prepared from the byproduct (ash) received from this plant. Four hundred people has got direct employment in this plant while 2000 people will get indirect employment with the establishment of this plant. Plant has been set up by Punjab energy Development Agency in collaboration with private sector company. 29 such Bio Mass power plants have been planned in the state to produce 350 MW power.
