National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has won the Srinagar Lok Sabha bypoll, defeating the ruling PDP candidate, Nazir Khan, by a margin of over 10,700 votes. There were seven other candidates in the fray.<br/><br/>Polling for the seat was held on the 9th of this month amid large-scale violence. The constituency had recorded an abysmal 7.13 per cent voter turnout. Repolling was held in 38 polling stations in violence-hit areas.<br/><br/>This will be his third term as Lok Sabha member. He was earlier elected to the Lower House in 1980 and 2009.<br/><br/>The bypoll to the seat was necessitated after the resignation of PDP leader Tariq Hamid Karra.
