The government has assured farmers that they will continue to get minimum support price, MSP, even after implementation of the Food Security Bill. Allaying fears expressed during the debate on the bill in Lok Sabha, Food Minister KV Thomas said, the government will not freeze the MSP and whatever foodgrains arrive in mandis will be procured.
The government provides MSP on wheat, paddy and dozen other commodities.
