Farmers agitation demanding higher compensation for land spreads to Agra in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, agitation over land acquisition has spread to Agra also. They have started the agitation demanding compensation for their land acquired by National Highway Authority of India, for road widening at the same rate as given to farmers in NOIDA among others. In Agra, farmers attacked a police picket near Chougaon village under Etmadpur police area of the district, leaving several policemen and a sub-divisional magistrate injured. AIR correspondent reports that a group of farmers in Aligarh district has rejected the enhanced compensation announced by the state government.
