A farmer from village Mhasla in Amravati district in Maharashtra, Ravindra Metkar was yesterday honoured with Babu Jagjivan Ram Abhinav Kisan award for innovative experiments in farming.<br />''<br />''He was given the award in a ceremony at the hands of union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar on the occasion of 94th foundation day of Indian Council of Agricultural Research in New Delhi. Metkar is an inspiring example for farming community. He has a business of poultry farming and has chickens who give one and half lakh thousand eggs in a day. He uses the excreta of chickens in his farms as fertilizers which has increased production and merit of crop.  <br />''<br />''National Pomegranate Research Institute at Solapur has been awared Vasantrao Naik prize for year 2021.<br />''<br />''The award was accepted by director of research centre Dr. Rajiv Marathe. He said that the production of pomegranate has brought paradigm shift in farmers' wealth.<br />''<br />''The farmers who used to earn only 5 to 10 thousand rupees now can earn lakhs of rupees. It has helped to raise the standard of living of farmers.<br />
