Faridabad in Haryana would get a metro rail link soon. The Empowered Committee on Mass Rapid Transit System headed by Cabinet Secretary K.M. Chandrashekhar approved the extension of the Delhi-Metro rail link to Faridabad on Tuesday. The project will be cleared by a group of ministers at the Centre. The project would be completed in two phases. In the first phase around 14 Kilometer of fully elevated metro rail link from Badarpur to YMCA Chowk in Faridabad will become operational within two years from the starting date. In the phase two, the project will be extended to Ballabhgarh. According to official sources the revised project cost has been estimated at 2533 crore rupees with the Haryana government to share in with over 1588 crore rupees and Central government would bear an expenditure of 544 crore rupees.
