Fares of Rajdhani, Shatabdi & Duronto trains to be hiked by Rs 25 to 27 from Oct 17

Railways have decided to hike the fares of Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains effective from 17th of this month. A Railways Ministry statement said, the ticket rates of these train will go up by about 25 to 27 rupees with an upward revision in food tariff. This is the second increase in passenger fares applicable in a few selected trains in a month as Railways had increased the fares by 2 per cent in all trains on 7th of this month.

Railways has attriubuted the increase in rates to hike in cost of raw material and services. It has maintained that the base fare of premier trains has not been increased and only food prices have been revised, which will result in overall hike in ticket rates.

As per the decision, the ticket rates of AC-II, AC-III and Chair Car in premier trains will go up by about 25 rupees per ticket. For AC-I, Executive class and Duronto Sleeper class the revised tariff will go up by about 30 rupees per ticket.
