The Centre on Thursday ordered an inquiry into the circumstances that led to water leakage at Gate Numbers of 13 and 16 of the Farakka Barrage in West Bengal. According to the Ministry of Water Resources, the inquiry will be conducted by Central Water Commission Chairman RC Jha and the report will be submitted within 15 working days.

Air correspondent reports, the inquiry comes a day after Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh assured West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee that an inquiry would be ordered into the leakage of water.
