Fake currency smugglers arrested in Nepal

In Nepal, police have arrested seven people, including two Indians and seized fake Indian currency worth over Rs. 40 lakh brought in from Pakistan. Police said, the fake currency notes of Rs. 1,000 denomination were smuggled into Nepal by Tek Bahadur Karki, a Nepalese who arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Wednesday from Pakistan via Bangkok. Though Karki managed to get out of the airport with the money hidden in his luggage, his taxi was stopped by the police who arrested him with six accomplices including two Indians from Motihari district in Bihar – Mukhtar Ansari and Isamuddin Alam. The arrest comes a month after police arrested a disabled Pakistani Mohammad Farook at the airport, while trying to smuggle in fake Indian currency worth 25 lakh rupees hidden in his wheelchair and hand baggage. Farook had arrived on a Pakistan International Airlines flight from Karachi.
