The National Investigation Agency, NIA has arrested 14 people and unearthed an international racket which involved in the smuggling and distribution of counterfeit Indian currency notes. The counterfeit notes have been supplied by Pakistani agents through the Indo-Bangla and Indo-Nepal borders. In a press release, NIA said these arrests were made following a nationwide raid conducted at various locations including West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. NIA received a information that few individuals belonging to Malda are engaged in organised smuggling and circulation of high quality and high value fake currency notes. Searches have led to the recovery of large number of ATM cards, bank passbooks, SIM cards and large amount of counterfeit Indian currency notes.
