Food and Public Distribution Minister of State Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti informed the Lok Sabha that, for the 2021-22 sugar season the Fair and Remunerative Price, FRP, has been fixed at 290 rupees per quintal. She said, this is linked to a basic recovery of 10 percent, subject to a premium of 2.90 rupees per quintal for each 0.1 increase of recovery over and above 10 percent and reduction in FRP at the same rate for each 0.1 percent decrease in the recovery rate till 9.5 percent.

She also said, with a view to protect interest of farmers associated with sugar mills having recoveries lower than 9.5 percent, the Government has decided that there shall not be any deduction in case where recovery is below 9.5 percent, in such case, farmers will get 275.50 rupees per quintal for sugarcane in the current sugar season.
