Fadnavis govt wins Trust Vote in M'shtra; BJP's Bagde elected assembly speaker: Shiv Sena in opposition

After the high voltage drama BJP-led Devendra Fadanvis government today won the crucial trust vote in Mahararshtra Assembly by voice vote. Senior BJP leader Ashish Shelar moved the trust and it was accepted by the voice vote.

BJP's Senior leader Haribhau Bagde has been elected unopposed as speaker of Maharashtra assembly, as Shiv Sena and Congress withdrew the nominations of their candidates at the last moment today. After the scrutiny of the only nomination of Bagde, official announcement of his election was made.
Later,Speaker Haribhau Bagade announced that Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde will be the opposition leader of the house.

Shiv Sena had fielded Vijay Auti and Congress had fielded Varsha Gaikwad for the Speaker's post. But both the parties decided to withdraw the nominations. Shiv Sena's senior leader Ramdas Kadam said that considering the tradition that the election of the speaker should be unopposed, his party decided to withdraw the nomination. As there was no election for the Speaker's post the proceedings of the trust vote are expected to complete early.

Earlier today, Shiv Sena announced that it will vote against the confidence motion of the Devendra Fadnavis led BJP government in the Maharashtra Assembly. Talking to reporters outside the Assembly senior Shiv Sena leader Ram Das Kadam said that Mr.Thackeray expressed total mistrust over BJP leadership and decided not to go with them. Kadam also alleged betrayal by the BJP.
