After the high voltage drama BJP-led Devendra Fadanvis government today won the crucial trust vote in Mahararshtra Assembly by voice vote. Earlier, Senior BJP leader Ashish Shelar moved the trust and it was accepted by the voice vote. Speaker Haribhau Bagade also announced that Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde will be the opposition leader of the house.
Earlier, Shiv Sena had fielded Vijay Auti and Congress had fielded Varsha Gaikwad for the Speaker's post. But both the parties decided to withdraw the nominations. Shiv Sena's senior leader Ramdas Kadam said that considering the tradition that the election of the speaker should be unopposed, his party decided to withdraw the nomination. As there was no election for the Speaker's post the proceedings of the trust vote are expected to complete early.
