Extreme cold condition continues to disrupt normal life in Uttar Pradesh. The day’s temperature has further dropped in Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Allahabad. Eight to nine degrees Celsius temperature has been recorded in these districts. Several long distance trains have been re-scheduled due to several hours’ delay. At many places the schools up to eighth standard have been closed till Saturday. The age-old and poor people are facing difficulties in coping up the severe cold. Various agencies have put the death toll between 450 and 578 due to cold in the state. The agriculture scientists have termed the current spell of fog and cloudy weather harmful for Rabi crop.
