External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj arrived in Dhaka a short while ago on a 2-day visit. She was received at the Bangladesh Airforce Base Bangabandhu in Kurmitola by her counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and other Foreign Ministry officials. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj is scheduled to co-chair the 4th meeting of the India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission with her counterpart Abul Hannan Mahmood Ali. During the meeting, the entire bilateral relationship will be reviewed with a focus to enhance the development partnership between the two neighbours. This is Swaraj's second visit to Dhaka, the first being in June 2014 soon after the Modi government took over. <br/><br/>The meeting will cover all aspects of the bilateral relationship including security, trade, water, sub-regional connectivity, power, economic co-operation and cultural issues. Considering the gravity of the Rohingya issue, it is also highly likely to be discussed. 2 MOUs are scheduled to be signed after the meeting. <br/><br/>One is the Sale & Purchase Agreement between India's Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL) and the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation for the long-term supply of high-speed diesel .The other deal is for the establishment of a Common Facility Centre for small and medium scale enterprises in the Institute of Diploma Engineers of Bangladesh in Khulna.<br/><br/> The Minister is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the evening. Tomorrow the Minister will open the new Chancery at the Indian High Commission Complex and inaugurate 15 development projects financed under the line of credit.
