External Affairs Minister S M Krishna resigns

External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has resigned ahead of the reshuffle of the Union Cabinet scheduled on Sunday.

The senior leader from Karnataka has sent his resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has forwarded it to the President. Mr. Krishna said, he wanted to work for the party and give a chance to youngsters to work for the government.

Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh Friday evening.
