External Affairs Minister condoles tragic demise of Dorjee Khandu in a chopper crash

The External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has condoled the tragic and untimely demise of Arunanchal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu in a chopper crash. In a first official statement confirming the death of Mr Dorjee Khandu, the Minister extended his condolences to the family and friends of the late Chief Minister. Describing him as a great son of the country, Mr Krishna said the nation has lost a visionary administrator and an excellent human being.Earlier, Home Minister P. Chidambram said that the search and rescue team has sighted a crash site between Kyela and Lugudhang region in Arunachal Pradesh. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr Chidambaram said that the site lies in the possible route the chopper carrying missing Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister could have taken. He added that the team has also sighted three bodies from a height. He said that an Army team was dispatched on foot to the crash site to identify and recover the bodies.AIR Itanagar correspondent had also reported that Arunachal PWD Minister Nabam Tuki told AIR that they have also received information of the discovery of the wreckages.
