Extension to Shah Commission & frost included as calamity among Cabinet decisions

The Union Cabinet that met last evening has approved the extension of tenure of Justice M.B Shah Commission of inquiry till 16th July, 2013.

The Commission was set up to identify cases of illegal mining, and also to identify regulatory and monitoring system failures in curbing illegal mining.

The Cabinet also accepted the recommendations of the Group of Ministers and approved the inclusion of cold wave or frost as an eligible calamity for relief from State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).
