Exports dip for 5th straight month; Imports also plunge by 7.48 %

India's exports dipped for the fifth straight month in April falling by 13.96 percent to 22.05 billion US dollars. The data released by the Ministry of Commerce said, the decline was registered after a steep fall in the merchandise exports by almost 14 percent.The growth in imports during the same month also plunged by 7.48 per cent to 33.04 billion dollars.The data also showed the trade deficit for April this year was estimated at over 10.99 billion dollars as oil imports declined by more than 42 percent from a year earlier. The trade deficit for April last year was 10.01 billion dollars.
