Exporters need to focus on non-trade barriers to boost business: Official

Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Rajani Ranjan Rashmi has said that exporters are facing non-trade barriers and they need to focus on those issues to enhance their product competitiveness in the global market. Speaking at the function of the Export Inspection Council, ECI of India, which has completed its 50 years in New Delhi, Rashmi said that ECI is helping exporters in getting certificates online and these measures are helping exporters in reducing their transactions cost and time. Speaking at the occasion, Quality Council of India Chairman Adil Zainulbhai said that the council is working with small and medium enterprises to increase quality of their goods and services. He also said, India has set a target to double its exports of goods and services to 900 billion dollars by 2019-20. India's exports dipped deeper in the negative zone recording a decline of 21 per cent in March this year.
