Textile Ministry has said the export of textiles and garments has shown a increase of 3.2 per cent during the last three years. Minister of State for Textiles Ajay Tamta stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. He said, in 2015-16, the exports of garments was around two lakh 60 thousand crore rupees, while in last financial year, it has gone up to two lakh 63 thousand crore rupees. The Minister said, to enhance the investment, production and export of the textile industry, government has launched the Special Package for Apparel and Made-ups segments of Indian textile industry. This includes enhanced duty drawback coverage, rebate of State Levies on Export of Garments, additional incentives under amended technology upgradation fund scheme and employee provident fund scheme reform.
