In Russia, three explosions in two separate attacks struck North Caucasus region of Ingushetia today. A twin explosives hit the base of a World War II memorial featuring a wartime T-34 tank at the town of Malgobek. A spokesman for the region's interior ministry said local residents found suspicious items near the foundation of the monument and called the police. He said two explosions occurred when a police unit and sappers arrived at the site. No one was killed or injured in the blasts, but police killed a suspected bomber when they traded fire with the man who opened fire with a handgun and threw a hand grenade at the policemen. According to the Interfax news agency the grenade did not explode. Later a third blast destroyed a shop at the suburb of the same town, leaving at least three people injured. <br/>
