Explosion kills six miners in Russia

In Russia, six miners were killed on Wednesday by an explosion in the Ural Mountains at an iron ore mine owned by the Evraz Group. The Interfax news agency quoting the company source said the blast had occurred at the Yestyuninskaya Iron Ore Mine near the town of Nizhny Tagil. Seven other miners were still unaccounted for from the blast that occurred when explosives were detonated unexpectedly as they were being transported in the mine shafts. Some 123 people were working in the mine at the time of the explosion and 114 of them had been evacuated. The Evraz Group is one of Russia's largest mining and steelwork companies.
