Existing laws to prevent food adulteration are adequate: Dinesh

The government today said that the adulteration of food articles declined from over 11 percent in 2003 to about 7.5 percent in 2007. Responding to the concerns of the members in Lok Sabha during question hour over food adulteration, the Minister of State for Health Dinesh Trivedi said that the existing laws to prevent food adulteration are adequate and can help effectively in dealing with adulteration. He said that the safety standards and the issues relating to uniform licences as well as monitoring are taken care of under the provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act. He said that Food Safety and Standards Authority has already been set up for realising the objectives of the Act. <br/> <br/> <br/> <br/> <br/>
