Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari today said that the examples of editorial daring and demonstrating the high professional and ethical standards are now few and far between. Addressing a seminar on the Role of Editors in Today's Media organised by Rajya Sabha television, Mr Ansari said, the editor holds the key to forming public perception and public opinion and thereby set the agenda for the national debate. He said, there was a time, when newspaper editors were intellectual stalwarts who acted as the brain trust of the country. <br/><br/>The Vice President pointed out that an editor must ensure accuracy and relevance of the content to uphold journalistic ethos and values. He further said that the lines between an editorial and an advertisement should be drawn in bold. The digital medium today provides space for independent thought and contrarian views.
