Ex UP chief secy gets 4 years jail term in Noida land scam

In Uttar Pradesh, a special CBI court at Ghaziabad today sentenced former chief secretary of the state Neera Yadav and an Industrialist Ashok Chaturvedi to four years of imprisonment in the NOIDA land scam case. The CBI had registered the case on the orders of the Supreme Court. The court also slapped fines of 50,000 rupees each on the two convicts. Neera Yadav was chief secretary when Mulayam Singh Yadav was the Chief Minister of the Uttar Pradesh. AIR Lucknow correspondent reports NOIDA Entrepreneurs' Association had filed a writ petition against allotment of land in different sectors and in commercial Sector 18 of NOIDA during Neera Yadav's tenure during 1995 to 1997 as CEO of Authority. Chaturvedi was chairperson of the Flex Industries and Engineering CEO and Dr. Mahesh Sharma was owner of a group of NOIDA based Kalash hospital. Large scale misappropriation in allotment of land to them. However, the court acquitted Kailash hospital owner Dr. Sharma. After the pronouncement of the judgment Chaturvedi was sent to the Dasna District Jail while Yadav has been admitted to a hospital. Meanwhile advocate of Neera Yadav said judgment of CBI court will be challenged to the Allahabad High Court.
