Ex-Union Min P K Thungon gets 4.5 yrs jail in corruption case

Former Union Minister and Congress leader P K Thungon was today sentenced to four and half years' imprisonment in a graft case by a Delhi court. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on 68-year-old Thungon. The case pertains to misappropriation of two crore rupees funds released by the Centre for public welfare of Nagaland. The CBI had lodged the case in 1998. <br/><br/>Besides Thungon,the court also awarded three and half years of imprisonment to two other convicts, while another convict was given two and half years jail term. On 21st of this month, the court had convicted Thungon and three others in the case. Besides being a former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Thungon had held several high offices as minister of states for Heavy Industries and Urban Development at the Centre.
