The former Chairman of the UGC, Prof. Yashpal has criticised the present education system in the country, coming down heavily on the mode of exams and coaching classes. He was speaking at the valedictory session of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Indian Science News Association in Kolkata today. Prof. Yashpal said that committing to exams and coaching classes is destroying the educational institutions. He said about the opaque nature of education system that it is not the right course to follow. He said vested interests of people are ruining many institutions. Prof. Yashpal cautioned that natural resources are being used for profit of corporates and not for the benefit of the people.
