Ex-PM Manmohan Singh seeks probe into bugging device in Gadkari’s home

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday said there should be an investigation into the report of bugging devices having been found in Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's residence and asked Government to explain the issue in Parliament.

Talking to reporters at an Iftar get-together hosted by Congress President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi, Dr. Singh asked how can Ministers' houses be bugged and said it needs to be investigated.

Earlier the Congress asked the government to come clean on the issue. Reacting to the matter, senior Congress leader Manish Tewari questioned, how the information appeared in the public space and said that if an inquiry has been ordered, full facts of it should be laid on the floor of Parliament, so that the nation knows about any truth in it.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gadkari on his Twitter account has dismissed reports about listening devices being recovered from his residence and said that it is highly speculative.

Earlier, media reports claimed that high power listening devices were found in the bedroom of Nitin Gadkari at his official residence in New Delhi.
