In Kerala, former Electricity Minister and leader of Kerala Congress B party R Balakrishna Pillai has been put behind the bars at the Poojappura Central jail, Thiruvanathapuram. He surrendered before Edamalayar special court at Kochi on Friday. The court has turned down Balakrishna Pillai's request for A class facility in jail because of his heart ailment and other reason. Meanwhile, home minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that Mr Pillai will be entitled for such amenities as jail rule provides and his status as a former minister. It may be recalled Mr Pillai has been sentenced to one year's rigorous imprisonment by the Supreme Court recently in the Idamalayar dam case recently after two decades to legal tussle.
