Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Karan Singh today suggested that flash floods in Leh be treated as a national calamity so that MPs from all over the country can contribute towards and relief and rehabilitation from their MPLADS fund. In a statement, Mr. Karan Singh said, he intends to send 50 lakh rupees as his donation. The veteran leader also hoped that relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken by the Central and state governments, armed forces and NGOs will succeed in providing adequate alternative shelter in Leh where the winter was fast approaching.
