Former Chief Justice of India Justice Ranganath Mishra passed away in Bhubaneswar last evening following prolonged illness. He served as the 21st Chief Justice of India from the 25th of September 1990 to the 24th of November 1991. He also served as the first chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission of India. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha. Several senior political leaders of Odisha including Governor of Assam JB Patnaik, Union Minister Srikant Jena, leader of opposition in the Odisha Legislative Assembly Bhupinder Singh have deeply condoled the death of Justice Mishra.
