Ex-CAG Vinod Rai’s revelations against UPA draw reactions from political parties

Congress has accused former Comptroller and Auditor General Vinod Rai of indulging in sensationalism through his revelations as reported in the media.

The Chief Auditor has been quoted as saying that he was pressurised by the UPA government functionaries to drop names of some persons in reports of Commonwealth Games and Coal scam.

Party leader Manish Tiwari has questioned the timing of the

revelations and asked why did not Rai make the revelations public while he was in office.

The BJP says that Rai's disclosures have vindicated the party's stand that UPA government was not only misusing constitutional bodies but also putting pressure on them.

Addressing media persons in New Delhi, party spokesperson Bizay Sonkar Shastri demanded that Congress reveal the identity of the politicians who approached Vinod Rai.

CPI leader Atul Anjan said, Vinod Rai's revelations are serious and government should take note of them.

Speaking to AIR, he said, facts must be collected from Rai to initiate legal action against those who pressurized him.

NCP leader Tariq Anwar also criticized Vinod Rai, saying that he wants to sell his book by making sensational claims.

He said, it has now become a fashion to say truth only after retirement and bring out some facts in public domain to gain publicity.
