Congress today said that every institution must respect the doctrine of separation of power enshrined in the Constitution. The party maintained that the appropriate functioning of all institutions is essential for a healthy democratic polity. Party spokesperson Manish Tewari while replying to a volley of questions on the issue said in New Delhi that each of the institutions should act according to the work assigned to it by the Constitution. The statement assues importance in the backdrop of a Supreme Court judge questioning the continuance of Vilasrao Deshmukh in the Union Cabinet.
