EU's new foreign policy chief arrives in Gaza

The European Union's new foreign policy chief has arrived in Gaza on one of the highest level visits there by a Western politician since Hamas took power.<br/><br/>During her Middle East tour, she is scheduled to meet Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Israeli President Shimon Peres. Her trip comes amid a new push by the European Union and the United States to revive stalled Middle East peace talks. <br/><br/>The international quartet of Middle East mediators, the United Nations, the European Union, United States and Russia, is to meet in Moscow later. Baroness Ashton will join US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has already arrived in the Russian capital for the talks. <br/><br/>US State Department spokesman PJ Crowley said the meeting will demonstrate international support for indirect talks between Israel and the Palestinians.<br/>
