Services through the Channel Tunnel have been suspended after a problem on a Eurotunnel shuttle train.

Eurostar, which runs high-speed trains through the tunnel between London and Paris and Brussels, said its services were not moving.

Kent police said a CO2 sensor had been triggered on a freight train, setting off an emergency procedure in which all people are evacuated.

No Eurostar trains were in the tunnel when service was disrupted. A Eurostar spokesman said there was no fire in the tunnel. The freight train would be removed and inspected, and services would resume only after that.
