European Union Finance Ministers have agreed an emergency package worth more than 900 billion dollars to prevent the Greek debt crisis spreading to other Euro zone countries. The agreement was announced by the Spanish Finance Minister after eleven hours of meetings in Brussels. Europe's monetary affairs commissioner said the European Union would do whatever it took to defend the single currency.Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund says it has approved a 40 billion dollar loan to Greece. The loan will run over three years and comes with strict conditions including spending cuts and revenue increases. It was approved by the IMF Board during a special session in Washington.
